About Chris
I have lived in Columbus most of my life, and have lived for the last 17 years in Columbus' Hilltop area. I graduated from Bishop Watterson High School, where I got my first exposure to politics as a delegate to Buckeye Boys State. Following graduation from The Ohio State University in 1990, I began working full time for Nationwide Insurance and have been spent that last 20 years in the health insurance industry. Currently I am working for a health insurance wholesaler assisting agents to identify affordable plans for individuals and families throughout Ohio. In that time I have worked with large and small employers, providing solutions to health care coverage and Workers’ Compensation services that meet the needs of their employees.
As a State Representative, I will bring my experience in the health insurance industry to the Statehouse. With my experience in working with families and businesses to find health care solutions, I am confident that I can work with state leaders to pursue policy changes that are meaningful and realistic. I do believe it is possible to offer health care coverage to Ohioans in a way that is accessible and cost effective.
Through my professional work, I have developed a strong sense of commitment to Ohio's workers and their employers. I believe our top priority should be to re-establish an economic climate that will attract jobs and investment in Ohio and that includes continued efforts to improve in our workers’ compensation system. The work place issues of safety and compensation should be beneficial to both the employees and the employers. My goal is to work toward making Ohio the industrial capital that it once was for many generations of Ohioans.
I also believe that it is government’s responsibility to provide Ohio’s students with an education that builds confidence and ensures they have the skills they need to succeed. I am proud of the public education that my children received. However, the world is rapidly changing and our educational system cannot be stagnant when it comes to preparing our future workers and entrepreneurs. That is why I believe we need to continuously identify the skills and academic experiences that our children must have to succeed and provide every child with the opportunity to obtain those skills.
Outside of work, I volunteer for the Columbus Association of Health Underwriters and currently serve as its Treasurer. Over the years I have been actively involved in my community from supporting the Mid-Ohio Food Bank to coaching youth soccer and baseball teams.
In 1950 my grandparents came to this country from Budapest, Hungary, leaving their home that was devastated by the ravages of World War II. They came to America with their three children, including my mother. Seeking the new opportunities to prosperity that America promised all immigrants they became citizens and settled in Cleveland, Ohio. They eventually moved to Athens, OH, and answering the call of duty and responsibility they sent their two sons to Vietnam - only one returned. The service and sacrifice for our country both of my uncles gave is a source of great pride for me.
My wife Shana is Regional Service Manager for CT Corporation and my children, Alex and Allison are currently in high school. |
